Wonder if anyone can help (sorry if this has been asked b4)

I just bought a Pioneer DVR 5100 with intention of it taking place of my Pioneer DVR 7000, to record footage to HDD & transfer to the PC via firewire.

Hooked it all up correctly - same as DVR7000 (firewire DV in/out to PC firewire card), but no picture - turning on the 5100 activates the programme request on the PC (Pinnacle studio 8) but once studio is active there is no picture or sound to capture, first I thought was a DV port fault & returned the player & got a replacement, but still the same problem.

Pioneer Tech support seem to be unaware of any problem with compatibility - but my dvr7000 works perfectly with dv in/out.

Anybody have any idea of fixes? am running on Windows XP pro.

    Thanks

Only a thought. Have you tried different software to capture the DV video?

    hi groovesej,

Yes Ive used a few diffrent - studio 8, ulead dvd workshop Adobe premiere 7 & few other downloadable cature programmes - with no luck in caturing PAL - not problem with NTSC which the player isnt supposed to output through DV - since found I can get PAL input to the 5100 DV but not NTSC - nuts!!

Are you using the 5100 to capture direct dv into the PC?
