Same thing append last year when I first got some TDK x16, but firmware 1.20 fixed that. Now the problem is with my new Ritek x16 DVDs that only burn at x4, but no firmware update this time. Anybody else with the same problem?
It's all to do with your burners writing strategies. Usually a firmware update will fix this, telling your burner that it can burn your disks @ that speed. However, when no firmware update is available and your bruner won't burn @ the speed it suggests, then it reverts to it's normal burning speed for all media (ones that arent in the firmware update), so there is nothing you can do about this unfortunately; only hope for an update! You may want to know, if some burners can't burn @ 16x, why they can call it 16x media. Well, if one burner is compatible with it @ 16x, then that's reason enough for them to give it a 16x speed label. Hope that helps
I'm really starting to get pissed off at companies that don't support their products, I get an error message every time I boot my PC because HP won't update their bios to support newer video cards. Oh well, I guess I'll go exchange the Ritek 16x for 8x. Thanks
Can't help you with the BIOS thing, not my area ;-) Good move getting the 8x disks though, better than 16x in my opinion anyway! :-D Happy Burning!
