PIP with converter box

I have 55" Philips projector TV with 2 tuners. With my OTA i was able to view 2 local analog channels. THe main screen had both video and audio, not the small screen...But as soon as I push the Swap button the small screen becomes the main..Now, with the converter box, I am having a heck of a time to get this done as previously. I do see a small screen ..aka ..with analog, but the small screen is snowy...and I am able to see some channels but not the ones that I really want. I have it going to my vcr, but I am not able to input via remote, the video 1 input which gives me my digital channels on its own. Sounds like a simple tweaking of cables, but with my spaghetti cables I get too confused...suggestions are welcomed.
