hey watsup everyone. okay so i "acquired" Pirates of the Carribean Dead Mans Chest from the internet(thorugh bittorent). it came in a avi file and i converted into a VIDEO_TS folder using ConvertxDVD. I burned using Nero. However, when i tried to play my dvd in my dvd player, it was playing in black and white (audio was fine). But when i placed the dvd in my computer(its a dvd-rom drive), the movie was playing perfectly and in color. On a side note, i palyed in my other DVD player and it didnt work at all- it gave me some error that went like "the use of this disc prohibited outside its limits".. could it be some security issue? btw, im using Taiyo Yuden media and burning at 8x thanks
Ok from my knowledge, this is not a big problem its just the different format you have burned the movie in. You either have burnt it in NTSC or PAL. To change it to the normal coulor you should have a button on your control to switch between the two formats. This should rectify the issue. Good Luck and keep me posted.
if you would buy the movie you would not be having theese problems at all, also you would have a great source to backup from, the bad things about about downloading from the net is you don't know what quailty you are going to get, you could of done a disk to disk backup, and would not have to be wasting the good dvd blanks, also i don't think that it is a problem with ntsc or pal, did you run the file through g-spot before you did your conversion with convertxtodvd? if you did you would of come up with a error that there could be a codec problem with the file, good luck happy burning have a nice day
@caliph..... you convert your AVI in ConvertXToDVD and make sure you tick off the correct format (NTSC for USA & Japan, or PAL for Europe). It's in the settings of the program. the reason why it would play perfect on your computer is because you have a region free drive and it will play both NTSC & PAL DVDs.
@ borhan9 : i actaully did try pressing the NTSC and PAL buttons to see if it would cahnge the color...... but to no avail. i tried both but the color still stayed black and white. @rdmercer1: to be honest im too lazy to go out and buy the original my freind . i didnt use g-spot before i did my conversion to convertxdvd. this is the only movie that ive ever heard any problems with, so i mean im still going to stick with d/l movies. @IHoe: okay ill do that today and tell you what happennens. thanks
wait am i suppose to turn the settings to "automatic" or specifically NTSC. the default settings were automatic and when i earlier converted they were automatic. so i just change it to ntsc right?

You and me both In the chance that i had made a boo boo i would have edited my post. But i understand what Creaky means cause if those things were not permited would it not cause most DVD Backup threads to be closed??
