I'm admittedly a noob to codecs et al. My only goal is to use tversity to access itunes downloads, etc on my xbox 360. I understand that one of the crucial first steps to this is being able to play all these formats in WMP11. To accomplish this, I've downloaded and installed both Haali and ffdshow. Unfortunately, I still can't play MP4 formats etc on WMP.

Thoughts? Am I mising something here? Once they I've downloaded and installed thse things, is there something else I have to do to put them into action? Am I trying to do something I can't do in the first place?

    Seriously frustrating...

That is all that should be required to playback mp4's. iTunes downloads aren't standard mp4's though; they are DRM'ed. You would need to strip the DRM before anything else will play them. You would also need to make sure that ffdshow is enabled for aac, AVC and MPEG-4 decoding.
