Play .rm videos on media player

    Is there a way I can play real players .rm videos on my windows media players without changing the windows media player version? If I could find a free program to convert .rm to a media player file that would be good to. Thanks

    Install Gabest's real media dshow filter and real's codecs (either by installing Real Player or Real Alt (comes with Gabest's filter)). Works for all dshow based media players.

    Ok you totally lost me. Sorry I'm not into the video stuff that much. Couldn't find the dshow filter to download. Question- is this an alternative player or will this make .rm files play on Windows media player? I need it on Windows media player. Please help me out a little more. Thanks

    It is a directshow filter only allowing real media playback for all directshow based players (WMP is dshow based).

    As I said it also comes with Real Alt. That would be the easiest way to install, although if you already have Real Player installed, then installing the filter by itself is probably better.
