Playback Feature May not be available on this disc

I used tmpgenc to convert my avi file to an m2v and audio to a wav file.

I used tmpgenc DVD auto to do the conversion to VOB files and let the tmpgenc toolbox burn it to a dvd+r. This was my very first success at getting a burned DVD in three weeks of trying to read and learn how to do this so I was REALLY proud

I put it in my DVD player and got the error "disc error Playback feature may not be available on this disc. Please eject disc." I tried it on another DVD player and just got disc error.

This is one long file without a menu or chapters and Ithink my problem could be that I did not add them.

Can anyone give me an example of how to do this if I need to? I have read and just can't seem to understand why I need menus or how to add them when all I want to do is watch one long movie. I have no idea where or how to logically 'break up' a movie for menus.

    Thanks.

There is no need to put menus on a Video-DVD disc. Your player cannot read the disc probably because it was not authored or burned the right way.

Do the process again but write the files to the hard disk instead of burning them to a DVD. And then try to read the set of files directly from the hard disk (with WinDVD or whatever). If you can read them, they are likely to be authored properly and the problem may be the way you burn them. If you cannot, they are just wrongly authored.

By the way, if you have Nero 6, you can very easily make a DVD from any video file using NeroVision Express. This tool offers both the conversion and the authoring, that is, it converts your files to VOB, split them and allow you to define a menu (if you want). Very easy. And it works!
