I am new to the DVD burning world and have been using RipIt4Me in conjunction with DVD Decrypter. I have ripped the movies in ISO mode and then selected the .MDS file to burn the file to disk. I am using dual layer dvd+R and have a dual layer burner. The disks have been verfied after the burn with no issues. However, when I put them into my DVD player, they will play for about an hour and then pixelate, freeze momentarily, and/or jump. If I jump past this portion of the disk, everything else plays fine to the end. From reading prior threads, I will start using Verbatim disks but in the meantime have been using Sony disks and burning at 2.4x. It seems like the DVD player is having trouble transitioning between the layers. Is this the issue and does anyone have suggestions for how to correct the issue other than trying to buy a new DVD player? On a side note, some of the disks I burned will play in 2 different dvd players but others will only playback in one. What would cause movies burned on the same burner through the same process to play on 2 machines in some instances but only one in others? Thanks in advance for all of the help.
>>>>> I have ripped the movies in ISO mode and then selected the .MDS file to burn the file to disk. Ripit's FAQ recommends ImgBurn to burn the final project. Is that what you used? Decrypter hasn't been updated in awhile, while ImgBurn is being constantly tweaked for DL burning. You should also list a few specs, burner, Firmware etc.
Thanks for the response. I ripped the file to ISO and then used the .MDS file to burn with DVD Decrypter. As far as programs, I am using DVD Decrypter 3.5.4. RipIt4Me 1.5.5. FixVTS 1.6. DVD Shrink 3.2.0.15 (However, I have not used this program since I am burning dual layer). The burner I am using is a Philips DL burner (SPD3100CC) external drive. I know it isn't the best out there but I thought I would see how the burning process worked before investing in more expensive hardware. I am not too familiar with firmware but my understanding is that it is the software used to run hardware devices. If this understanding is correct, I am using the plug and play driver to run the burner (ver. 5.1.2535 dated 7/1/2001). Also, I just installed image burn and will try using that for the next DVD and let you know how it goes. If I still have similar problems, would you recommend buying a new DVD player? Also, if this fixes the problem, can I re-rip all of the DVDs I burned or did buring them using DVD Decrypter corrupt the data? Thanks for the help.
