Player Reads SVCD, but Won't Play?

    I have a JVC DVD Player, and upon trying to play a SVCD, one in PAL and one in NSTC format, the Player an XV-LTR1 says on the played it is Video CD compatible.

    I pop the SVCD in, and it reads the DVD and will even play the DVD when I push play, but notching shows up on the TV scree.

    Any ideas?

    i think i have the same problem it wont play on my DVD player but i can hear the sounds for the movie and cant see the picture.

    Maybe our problem is it plays VCD but not SVCD? Didn;t try that...

    yea i think your right because i can play VCD but not SVCD
