    Hello.

I'm a bit confused. I have a couple of DVD movies, the cover saids it widescreen (16:9). So shouldnt I be able to watch the movie WITHOUT the black bars on top and bottom on my widescreen TV???

When i play the movie my TV automaticly sets it to 16:9 format... Soo i dont really get it..

I have a Grundig TV and it is playing on my PS2 slim

    Hope you can help me..

Believe me I feel your pain unfortunatly there is not a standard for 16:9 yet there are multiple formats of 16:9. 1.85:1 and 2.39:1 or 2.35:1 which is currently being used. The 2:35:1 will fill the screen but the 1.85:1 will not. Here is a good link explaining all about it http://www.bealecorner.com/trv900/16to9.html
