I have tried to watch a video tape recorded on a TRV-280 digital camcorder on a Sony TRV 138 camcorder that I think is analog but am not sure. However the tape appears to be blank, just static. Can videos produced on a digital cam not be watched on an analog, if the cam is indeed analog? Hopefully I've made my question clear. Thanks.
You cannot watch tapes recorded with a Digital8 camcorder on a Hi8 camcorder, but you can the other way around. The 280 is Digital8 and the 138 is Hi8, so what you are trying to do is not possible.
