May be you need to update your dvd-rom/writer's firmware. Sometimes updating the firmware will help to recognize other media codes, and it will be more compatible with other region as well. What is the name, model and current firmware of your computer's dvd writer? Go here http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_all.php and check it out.
my computer is a dell inspiron 8600 and i use windows xp profesional as an operating system, my installed dvd is a nec dvd+-rw nd-6500a the program i use to play my dvds is CyberLink PowerDVD Main Program. i have tried to update the driver and it says it is current and also the sam with my dvd program from cyberlink. Thank you for the info and i will reserch it later tonight to see if it is any help. jim
So you'd checked the firmware and it is current right? Then I guess I have no more clue then. Are the dvds original (the one you're trying to play on your computer)? Did you check this http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1920 yet? It said, that the new firmware for Dell OEM drives is 203D.
