I copied the dvd to my hard drive without difficulty , then copied the file to a dvd disc . It played perfectly thereafter on the PC, but would not play on either a standard or progressive scan machine. Why and what to prevent in the future. thanks
Hi. What software did you use? Describe the steps you performed and the software you used. The three most common causes for burned disks not playing on standalones are: - using poor quality media. The best to use are Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, and made in Japan labeled Fuji and Sony. - burning too fast. A good rule of thumb is to burn at half or less the rated speed of the media. Many of us burn at 4X regardless of the rated speed of the media. - out of date firmware. This especially comes into play when your burner doesn't have a write strategy for newer media you may be using. Firmware can be found at the manufacturer's web support site, sometimes the computer manufacturer's site, or at this link: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_all.php
