Hi, i would like to build my first pc, this pc will be mainly used for playing online games like Live for speed, simraceway etc. I will also be using it to download multiple movies at once and i would like to connect it to my 42inch plasma. To be honest i have been searching this forum but i have no idea where to begin i.e motherboard, cpu, psu, gpu, ram, os hard disk (for the build i will have a friend who will show me how to build it). I would prefer if the mobo was gigabyte as i had one on my current pc which lasted 8 years with an intel cpu. My budget is somewhere in the region of $700 but i could stretch it a bit more if needed. If possible i want this pc to last a couple of years if its possible with this budget. Thanks!
if i were you id look at intel sandybridge i5 2500k or i7 on a 1155 chipset if you look about there is plenty of bundle offers which will include ram. as for graphics its up to you but i have gainwood 460 gtx and its rigged up to my denon amp which is rigged up to my panasonic tv and its awsome with movies, music, games.
To be honest while waiting for someone to reply i was searching the net and most of the threads on forums were pointing me in that direction. My problem is that i dont know whats compatible with what and if it will fit my 'budget'.
Well after a couple of hours looking i have managed to create some sort of a list for my pc, so here goes: Mobo: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/giga...155-ddr3-sata-iii-6gb-s-raid-pcie-30-hdmi-atx Cpu: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/inte...35ghz-8mb-cache-hd-3000-igp-850mhz-95w-retail Ram: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/16gb-(2x8gb)-vengeance-performance-memory-kit-ddr3-1600mhz-cl10 Gpu: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/1gb-...ader-1800mhz-384-cores-dvi-i-mini-hdmi-plusfr Hdd for os: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/500gb-wd-wd5000aakx-caviar-blue-sata-6gb-s-7200rpm-16mb-cache-8ms First of all i know that i have blown my budget, but does everything function together? Is their anything which is under/overpowered? Should i wait for ivybridge? Is the mobo enough if i want to upgrade in the future (i.e more/faster ram/cpu?) If i were to not play lfs or simraceway would i need the gpu? As for psu and the case i didn't know which would be good for the choices i made. If anyone wants to create a completely new list for me please be my guest. Thanks
one problem with this m8 is your ram it is for notebook, this is what you want http://www.scan.co.uk/shop/computer.../ddr3-(240-pin)-single-dual-channel-(1600mhz) you would need a gpu because you dont have onboard graphics on motherboard plus you will be much better off. as for waiting for ivy bridge well that is debatable and we wont know the true performance till they have come out but i dont think they will be much faster than the one your buying and yes your motherboard is upgadable to ivy bridge. if you can afford a ssd for you os and have 500gd for storage you will see a great inprovement on overall pc performance but you could always add later. and dont worry your new pc will last a long time and is very fast.
here is my thoughts if your budget will allow http://www.scan.co.uk/products/gigabyte...cie-30-hdmi-atx http://www.scan.co.uk/products/inte...-34ghz-hd3000-igp-850mhz-8mb-cache-95w-retail http://www.scan.co.uk/products/8gb-...c3-12800-(1600)-non-ecc-cas-9-9-9-24-xmp-150v http://www.scan.co.uk/products/1gb-evga...ini-hdmi-plusfr http://www.scan.co.uk/products/60gb...e-sf-2200-read-525mb-s-write-490mb-s-80k-iops http://www.scan.co.uk/products/cors...e-cpu-cooler-s775-1155-1156-1366-2011-am2-am3
Thanks for your help! I really appreciate it, could you please re enter the mobo and gpu links as they are showing me 404 file not found on the scan website please? I suppose apart from the list you showed me all i need is a case to get it to work right?
