you try right clicking on the desktop, then select properties , and somewhere around there, you can enable hibernation??
itz already enabled & now t can't shutdown or restart so i have pull out the cable is i want to shutdown or restart. when its shutdown it just stays at the shutdown screen and doent move!!! please help
sounds like you have crap or a virus on it maybe using something like CCleaner to clean it all up and then doing some checks may be worth your while also you may not need to pull out the wire eachtime if it still doesn't shut down then you can hold in the power button and it will just shut off but this is dependant on your pc but its ok with most pc's but give it ago but if it gets to the shutdown message then it shouldn't do any damage to your computer if you did just turn it off because i have done that loads of times lol
i have runed cclreaner Ad-Aware SE Personal Ashampoo WinOptimizer 2005 Registry Mechanic ewido security suite Spybot - Search & Destroy Zone Labs Security anti-virus avg free anti-virus all of them did not fix it, i am really stuff reah i think it might be any processes running and they might refuse to shutdown!
To force Windows to shutdown programs upon exiting the OS: Open up regedit (Start, run, regedit) and go to this key. HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop on the right hand side, you'll see an entry called AutoEndTasks. Right click, choose Modify and change the value to 1. Note: The USERS section effects all users on the system. If you only want this to effect certain logins, you'll have to log in to each one, and go to HKEY_Current_User\Control Panel\Desktop.
thankz but i still won't shutdown i changed to value and on spybot i updating the program and runed a check and found a few spywere then i tried to resart sill wont restart REALLY pissing me off
I changed to reg ( AutoEndTasks ) value to 1 in HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-19\Control Panel\Desktop not in HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop because i was not there!!!!
http://img62.imageshack.us/my.php?image=p50800132gu.jpg what does this mean i think itz really bad!! Thankz
ah yes, the blue "screen of death". Well as a temporary solution for restart or shutdown do this: press ctrl + alt + delete, this opens a task manager, there on the toolbar menu find shutdown and it should give u the option stand by, restart......
thankz but how do i make it so i don't get this blue screen again becuase this my first time and i don't know wats wrong!! thankz
Well as I'm in a little hurry I can give u a page where u can look on how to solve your problem: http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=1647 BSOD can be a result of a hardware failure, or driver corruption or something third. Let me know if the link helped. It can even be your RAM, try pulling out the RAM out of the casing and blow to remove any dust.
why dont you just backup your files whilst its running ok then do a system restore from your boot disk formating your hard drive then re install your files without the crap.
It's because of this Service: BlueSoleil Hid Service - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\IVT Corporation\BlueSoleil\BTNtService.exe Mine is doing the same thing, ever since I installed the blue soleil program that came with my bluetooth dongle. You can right-click on the programs icon in the task tray and select exit, and then stand-by or hibernate. But when you re-start windows will try and install your virtual serial ports with the found new hardware wizard. just cancel this and manually start blue soleil if you want to use bluetooth. Annoying, but I don't have any other way around it yet.
Thanks alot for that daver69, I reformated my computer a few weeks tho i was thinking about reinstalling the blue soleil softwere!
I installed it back on today, after i called up msconfig (start>run>msconfig) then i disabled it from services menu and the startup menu. I havent had any problems so far with standby , hibernation etc....
