I have an Optorite burner when I try to burn home movies on a Dvd-r disk the movie burns but about half way when I play it back it gets stuck and returns to the menu. On the back of the burnded disk I can see a two burn patterns. It seems like the burnesr does someting half way. Please help

try new/different media and try burning at slower speed, but it sounds like your burner is failing to write, so its probably on its last legs.

thank you for your response. This burner has been replaced twice by the manufacturer including a diffrent model # and everytime its having the same problem. So the one I currently have is a week old. I tried using diffrent media and burning at slower speeds, rechecked the connections, reinstalled the dirve. It seems to burn fine but when I play it back in a dvd player it only gets halfway and gets frozen and goes back to the menu. I tried diffrent playback on diffrent dvd players, I tried updating the firmware. Another strange thing which might be the same problem of a diffrent one when I pop in a DVD-R on the main windows screen and I try to move files over to the burner drive and I ask to write to the burner. It gives me an error message that the disk is full or can't be written. The burner seems to burn when I use a PowerDirector to burn my home movies or DVDshrink. But I have the middle freezing problem. On the back of the bured disk I can see a diffrence in the burn in middle of the disk wich is where the problem possibly occurs. Thank you for your help, and please give me some suggestions to try.

i used to own the Optorite DD1205, it was a 12x burner...worked for awhile, then it just died...to be honest with you, optorites are crappy burners..i have 4 different ones now for my desktop, ALL from good reputable brands...Sony, Pioneer, Nec, and Liteon...and i haven't had a problem with them YET~ i always had my optorite updated with the latest firmware and even THAT did not help me much at all~

secondly, i THINK your real issue lies with bad/poor quality media, may i ask WHICH kind you are using..i would suggest TY or Verbs (Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim) and you MIGHT have better success with that burner..the cheap media people use will cause that burner to not read and give you errors similar to the one you mentioned (blank disc but it states it is full)...hope that helps...let us know how you make out...good luck~
