I have the exact same problem, I been using google to search for a solution and found this message. I'm just glad I'm not the only one with this problem. What I did was change the place where the image files were stored (I changed it to my other hard drive, where I would know exactly where it should be) after that burning session the image file was removed like it's supposed to, but I still can't find how to get rid of the ones that have been taking up space on my main hard drive.
well im also happy im not the only one with this problem....it seems that no one knows whats happening cause no one answers...what i did is instead of using nero to copy a dvd backup im using clone cd and it works perfect...but like you i cant find those images....i tried everything and nothing....if you find something please let me know ok buddy.....see ya
i haven't yet commented on this one as i don't use the disc copy feature. but what i can say is that i'm not aware of temporary files being left around after the disc copy processes..
As far as I know they're not supposed to be left behind either, but I'm sure it's because of the Copy Disk, and here's why: I had about 5.6 GB of free space that I keep free on my main hard drive solely for the purpose of disk copying. I went to copy this DVD and I stopped it when it was about 30% done, because I forgot to close all other programs. I exited Nero Express completely and opened it again but as soon as I began copying again I was notified that there wasn't enough space which struck me as odd becuase of that space I always kept free. so I went to my main drive and found that something around 1GB had been taken. I deleted some old movie files that I had lingering and went back to the copying. this time it went completely ok, but when I exited the program there was only 1,56 GB left of my hard drive. All other programs were closed so there was no way it could have been anything other than Nero Express. I went to the place where the Image files were put while copying (my documents) but found nothing, but that 3+GB of memory that's unaccounted for has to be somewhere.
try this then - http://www.jam-software.com/treesize -that'll help you find what's stealing all your space...
*peeks in, Hi all sometimes when using nero the images are stored in the folder my documents. I had this same problem and after a fruitless search of programs file i found the images there. Hope that is the one place where you might find the mysterious images taking up hd space.
The easiest way to do it, is by doing a "Search" on your hard drive for files that are over "300,000 KB" (you can put whatever number you want there). In the search results, it will show you the location of them and it also allows you to delete them from the search results window.
Hey guys i finally found those images thank god and thanks to creaky, creaky really thanks man you are the man. i used treesize and they were in a folder that for some reason i do not have access to...(and i have the option to see hidden folders and system folders checked)but anyways i couldnt see that folder, so what i did is i went to c: and if you look for the folder recycler you are not gonna find it, so on the address box on top i typed c:\recycler and then it show me another directory which is nprotect, i clicked on there and walla !!!!!! all my images were there.... really thanks for everything....this a great forum....especially thanks to creaky.....until next time
yay, no worries, i found that to be a brilliant little program. ps as to recycler folder, i've always wondered what that is as usually only see it on work pc's so always assumed (even though it sounds similar to the recycle bin) that it was some of our firm's sneaky software (they have loads of nosy software running monitoring things due to 2 separate times where developers went postal and wrote/released their own viruses. Anyway...did some searching re recycler as i'd always been too lazy to properly check it out and found this - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/171694/EN-US snippet from there - a-ha, i only started using NTFS a few months ago at home, hence why i'd never come across recycler out of work. that'll teach me to be lazy!. also, ntprotect is part of the annoying Norton software offerings -
lol m8 thanks anyways i apreciate your time and again thanks and also thanks for that link you posted... no one else in this forum seems to know about what happened to me...well anyone but you....so i really apreciate it ok creaky thanks
