Hi labajue The latest is P1.6 - here's a link. The will be a file in this download that will try you how to update the firmware. it's pretty easy - only takes a few minutes.

thaks i just sorted it i updated my firmware to 1.6 cheers. but i have one more question i can record on my disks at these speeds on datawrite - disks using nero 7 2x 4x 8 x but i dont know what speed to use as before if i used the higher speeds i got errors and if i use higher speeeds will the disks play in all dvd players
Sorry about that labajue I forgot to mention that those are the same models for this drive - glad you sorted that out! Datawrite uses different manufacturers - some good and some bad. So pop a blank disc in the drive. In Nero SmartStart go to ToolKit>cd-dvd speed>disc info tab. Check the manufacturer. If it's MCC, TY, Ritek, Ricoh try 8x - should be good. It's what I burn at on good media. Any other manufacturers show up - take it down to 4x.
