Hi everyone, especially Scuba Pete hehe ive been having problems for quite some time, i had another thread posted and no luck. The deal is I have a Sony DRU-510A and im using Ritek's, not the famed G04's and this could perhaps be my problem, or at least if i had not had a single successful burn, the deal is the one time I was successful it was like 2:30 in the morning and i stupidly did not write down the process, and now im once again lost. I used your in depth guide Scuba Pete but still no success, this is what I got as an error.....

this might perhaps not help much, but who knows.
I would attribute my problems to the fact that im not using the GO4's but because i have had a successful burn i dont really know.

Please help. I have made like 25 coasters so far and this is beginning to cost me money lol. any help is appreciated so thank you.

I guess i failed to include some info. I have a brand new alienware computer so that is obviously not the issue here, but my problem is,and always has been that in the burning process it fails half way through as an I/O error at 48%-52% completion. sorry i failed to mention this earlier and thanks for any help you may give.

ok, my newest update....i really need some advice at this point, today for the first time in a long time I got another DVD successfully burned, it did not have an encryption on it as far as i know, not that its a big deal, i burned Castle in the Sky with using dvd decrypter to dvd shrink and on to nero all using Video and Audio TS folders. Then i tried Princess Mononoke which did not work, i used the exact same method with no positive result. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated, thanks.

Hi shadwMage, here's a few suggestions. Use Decrytper first when Shrink can't rip.

So... DVD Shrink w/ DVD Decrypter
    1) Open Shrink, open disk
    2) Click "backup!", change target destination to "ISO Image File"
    3) Check box to Launch DVD Decrypter, click ok

    DVD Shrink w/ Nero
    1) Open Shrink, open disk
    2) Click "backup!", target destination is your burner.
    3) Under "backup options" tab, click File I/O and check box to enable burning with Nero.
    4) Click ok

Or... If you have the full version of Nero 6. Use DVD43(free) with Nero Recode 2.
    (Steps learned from bigorange)
    1) use anydvd or dvd43 in background to rip.
    2) open recode and hit dvd to dvd
    3) hit import dvd and wait to analyze(about a minute)
    4) take out whatever you want by clicking on that particular title and disabling, it will offer you a substitute picture to go where each item has been disabled or you can put in your own(picture, clip, poster, etc.) With your savvy you know to click on the + mark to get sub-titles in extras. Here you use the preview slider to see what you want to keep and what you want to disable. This is really all you need to disable to reduce compression, altho I have left everything in if there's not a LOT of action and compressed almost 50% and ended up with a great picture. It lays everything out real nice for you so it's easy to understand. I would leave the menu alone cos it doesn't use much space and it will fully function with your movie.
    5) hit next and check burn at once and advanced analysis, Be sure to check BOTH.
    6) hit burn and wait 45-60 minutes

    Hope this helps.
