ok, im very new to all of this stuff. I have been asking some of my friends if they know anything but they dont. One of them told me to come here.

I have a program called "DVD X Copy XPress"

it is a program i use to make a copy of my DVDs so that if i loose any i have a copy of it in a safe place. My Friend has it too, and his works fine. The problem i have with mine is that it ask me to put in the dvd i want to burn, so i put it in and the "start" botton turns green(wich means that i can start to read the DVD) after it is done it says step 2 of 2: insert blank DVD. I put in my blank DVD, iv tried a dvd+R 4x and a DVD+R 16x and netiher work. it is soppose to have the "start" botton turn green and then download it onto the blank DVD. But it does not turn green so i can not make a copy.

now i was wondering if any of you guys could help me out. Like do i need a differnt type of blank DVD, or do i need to download a new program or somthing.

All i know about my computer is that it is a Dell and it has two spots for DVD/CDs one says DVD rom(the top one) and the bottom says DISC rewritable on it.(im sorry i know that is not a lot of information but plz help)

-plz ask questions if u have any
-plz help me, iv been trying to get this to work 4 about 10 weeks(srry it this post is so long(

If the movies are new you may be getting blocked if you run ANYDVD in the background (free for 21 days to test) you should be up and running also update your drives firmware and use Verbatim DVDR's, Also check into programs like Fixit4me and FixVTS (they need to run as a pair) DVD Shrink to put it on a 4.7 SL disc and DVD Decrypter to burn to a disc they are a few more combos you can use to make backups DVDX is outdated. Read the guides on AD !!

Your post isn't that long. Trust me many people don't give enough information! The first thing that I need you to find out is if your DVD recorder is a +R or a -R or a +/-R. The only reason is because you said that you put in a +R DVD and I want to make sure that your burner can write to it.

Now I know that you are going to hate me for this, but there is a lot of free burning software to use for making backups. I had the program you are referring to a long time ago. I can tell you where the best money should be spent immediately for one of the best products on the market. If you get it now you get 5 dollars off the price of the software. It is important to get this software now because of how good it is and because at the 1st of the year the price is going up on it. You can get a 21 day free trial of the software.

Go to http://www.slysoft.com The name of the program you want is AnyDVD. Then go to http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/360110 you do not need all of these programs but they are worth it if you ever have a problem. Also download VobBlanker from here: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_tools/vobblanker.cfm And last but not least there is one other free program called DVDFab Decrypter and you can get it here: http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm

Now the first program I mentioned many people do not want to spen money on. With the other programs I mentioned you can burn almost any movie. The only problem is that you have to use a couple of programs to get it done. I normally use 3 programs for a backup and sometimes 4. AnyDVD can rip for you, but you will need DVD Shrink to reduce the file to fit on a DVD-5. VobBlanker is great for getting rid of FBI, Previews and other junk. You would amazed. There is actually a file that program you are using puts on the DVD. You can remove it with VobBlanker. All of the members of this forum are very knowledgeable and would be willing to help you with any problem you are having.

Find out about your burner and let me know if you are interested in making your backups for free.
