I can not find a 40 pin male to male ide adapter ,need to connect 2 ide cables together. tryed google search nothing where can i buy one thank you all
why are you trying to connect 2 ide cables together, for length( you can buy longer ones) or to put 4 ide drives on one cable( can't as bios can only see 2 ide drives each on primary & secondary connectors on motherboard)
hi for length, making snake look a like in my case, got alot of round HD cables, but need to connectors. PLEASE HELP
try electrosonic or something like that to see if they have ide gender benders or if they have the male connectors for cables not motherboards so that you can make your own adapter, me i can do it as i do it all the time making cables but i haven't come across having to make an ide gender bender. it might end up cheaper to just buy longer ide cable
As Grapes would say "Good Canadian Boys eh" I believe IDE cables are limited in length (by spec) to 40 inches or something. Check out BigFoot http://www.bigfootcomputers.com/ They have some way big honkin' cables available there... But you will never find the adapter you seek (the signals are very low-level and delicate) Hope this helps, Regards
i'll see what i can do, just that i don't have male cable connectors so i'll have to take off duff harddrives or cdroms
As THE_OGS said, IDE cables have a limit of 40 Inches. Joining two cables togeter will go past this, therefore not allowing you to use it. If you want to, just go buy the longest you can get and stick with that. Thats why nobody makes IDE Cable Joiners. CJC
Extra length = Extra Capacitance/Impedance/Noise = Data loss and corruption. Still worth a go I suppose............................. _X_X_X_X_X_[small]Beware of the Pixies - they move in over night and turn your life upside down [/small]
Hey! I currently use a 36 inch cable to ghost a number of client machines and have had no problem.Just make sure you use the 80 wire variety opposed to the 40. The 80 provides more shielding.
Exactly true, lads. But not worth a go Baabaa I told them not to attempt it and gave a direct link to a Canadian source with a multitude of 36" cables. Just one more advantage for SATA, I guess... L8R
Aw, that's gonna spoil the fun now............. I just love Mr RF buzzing round looking for weak data lines...................
if he wants the adapter, i'll make it for him. besides scsi cables can be up to 5+ ft long so he'll probably have no problem with an ide
I think that's why you'll find SCSI is a lot more shielded and also higher powered................ Besides, I did say it was worth a go, you never know, if there is not much RF around, it may just work....................... _X_X_X_X_X_[small]Beware of the Pixies - they move in over night and turn your life upside down [/small]
