    Dear lerner04,

Not sure if you're talking about a harddisk or cd or dvd, but whatever you do, do not add or delete anything on that disk because the data can actually be recovered even though sometimes you may need professional help.

Now can you be more specific: Is it a harddisk, and how badly do you want the data back?

O.K., you may try use a free program called PC Inspector to see if you can recover the files:

    http://www.pcinspector.de/file_recovery/uk/welcome.htm

The program is quite simple to use, but do read the instructions very carefully first, and always remember to save the files recovered to some place else (e.g. the harddisk).

    Good luck!
