High Everyone,Hope someone can shed some light on this problem I'm having.I recently tried connecting another pc to my cable internet connection through my router and can't get a connection. The particulars:I've tried DHCP,different cables, swapped nic cards out from pc #2 to my pc#1 and they work fine.I've ran network connection setup wizard,I even tried to force a connection using a static ip address and in network connections,it shows that particular nic connected at 100mps.on Auto Negotiate, but it still won't connect to the internet through IE.My ISP DOES allow more than 1 device on my connection, but doesn't support my router. The router is a Network Everywhere NR041-WM.When I connected my pc#1 to it,I had to do no config.,it found it,grabbed an ip and it was off and running. Then I connected my ps2 to the router and ,it found it and was off and running. My router & pc#2 both show link lights lit up,but still can't get on the internet w/pc#2. Any ideas guys?????????????????????????????????????????????? Could it possibly be a motherboard issue??????????????????????? Eagerly awaiting your response!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! gbdav56
i had a linksys router & had to use the install disc on both pc's so as they would work. did you get an install disc with the router?
High,Thanks for the quick response.Yep,got one w/ the router, but didn't have to use it for pc#1,just plugged it in and away she went working fine,so I tried running disc w/pc#2 and for the first several times,it was telling me that it couldn't connect to the router,so it wouldn't let me go any further, but after I tried to force a static ip and the nic showed connected,I then ran the disc again and it went through the whole disc as it suppose to ,and said"Congradulations" config. was successful. And here's the weird thing, when I ran the disc on pc#2,after it finished,I couldn't connect to the internet on pc#1,so,I reset the router by pushing the reset button and rebooted pc#1,then it was ok.But still no internet connection for pc#2.I'M BEFUGGLED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
install again. when using the install disc you should have the option to make one the primary pc & the other a secondry. before you re-install turn off the modem & reset it & do this with the router. i hope this works for you
Ok I'll try it again...will let you know if it works, but if in the event it doesn't can it be a motherboard issue????thanxs
was 1st computer online before getting router as had same problem with customer's 2 computers. did you do the release all & renew all routine before hooking up the router to the 2 computers?
Hey wow. i had that smae problem but with a tiny green router that cost 40 buckx from gamestop..and then i uset one by Katron thats old...i still have the same problem....but then my laptops HDD broke so...problem solved.
Well here we are still pulling my hair out.OK,I've tried all the suggestions given,to no avail.I even did an ipconfig /all on pc#1 and compared the info to pc#2,the most notable thing, other than it will not renew an ip,is is says IP Routing Enabled:NO Could this be the little devil and if so,how do I go about enabling ip routing on pc#2?????? Could it be a driver issue or motherboard issue????? I've never had this kind of trouble getting one connected. Is there a good diagnostic tool to help here??????I'm going bald guys PLEASE............... Thanks for all the responses gbdav56
Just to add ,I have all link lights lit,the nic in Network Connections shows connected 100mps,even on the other nic when I enable and try to use it.I pulled the nics and put them in my pc#1 and they worked fine,so Iknow the nics are good.Could there be missing dll files or such???????????????????gbdav56
sorry - i will shrink it. i have shrunk it (389 X 200) i think this is the allowed size as per forum rules. let me know if this is still too big & i will re-shrink.
Hello All, Well,I finally got the problem fixed.Wish someone could have told me to check my winsock files, there was either a missing one or corrupt one.I ran a winsock fix and after that, it connected to the internet and is now off and running fine. Thanks for all the responses. And I got the info about the winsock files from my,yep would you believe ,my lil sister,go figure.Maybe she needs to be on here...LOL..... gbdav56
i'm glad you got it to work. hmmmmm i was just about to mention the winsock files - not. i have never heard of them (but then i'm no expert!), i guess we have all learnt something. i think your sis should sign up - maybe she can teach us all something. good luck & happy surfing!
