was wondering if this was any good. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16827249003 It is cheaper than some 16x burners, and I was wondering why. Still not sure what to buy now. Saugmon helped me out huge, but now I saw this 18x. I know there is no 18xmedia as far as I know.
Hi, Not sure where these 16x speed drives are that are dearer than the Plextor 760. Anyway, yes with certain media the 760 does write @ upto 18x (this is with 16x media). I have one of these & find it excellent. However for most users the BenQ 1650 is the better value for money drive. You should be able to get 2 1650s' for the price of a 760. BTW 18x is only achieved briefly towards the end of the writing of a disc, so the difference between 16x & 18x is a matter of seconds.
