Recently, my burner (mentioned in topic) has not been able to read any type of CD/DVD. I have no idea where to go at this point; I have uninstalled all burning software, uninstalled the drive itself and rebooted, checked the IDE and jumper cables, switched it to master, switched it back to slave, switched it to cable select, nothign seems to work. I am not too experienced with computers, just basics, so I don't know what else it could be. Anyone else have any kind of clue on how to fix it? It is driving me crazy.
Have you tried updating the firmware? If not go to: http://www.plextor.com/english/support/support_downloads.html#firm download and install Version 1.06 for your Plextor PX-716A.
Check your users manual on how to use the Self Test Diagnostics and see if that helps. It will help to find if the problem is with the drive or somewhere else.
I have updated the firmware and ran the selftest and it blinks green (meaning there is a read/write problem). I guess ill have to get a new one. Thanks for the help.
