I have a .zip which when I try to open gives me an error, "File#0; bad zipfile offset(local header sig): 4" I downloaded a free program called ObjectFixZip, which is supposed to fix corrupted .zips. however when I run this app, and put the appropriate zip in its input window it gives the error" cannot open the file C/theb rest of the directory path)/filename.zip the system cannot find the file specified" I tried other free prog.s as well but no luck. Is there anything I can do to make the zip extract properly/fix it? please any help greatly apprieciated.
Where did the file come from? Try downloading again or from a different source. If the file is corrupt, I know of no way to fix it. How could the 'repair' program guess what is supposed to be in the original file?
We'll, even original PkZip, or at least WinZip has somekind of repair feature (PowerArchiver and others may have too). Of course they cannot repair all files, but they just skip bad files and try to extract parts of the archive that are not corrupted. Even WinRAR, that is not mainly a zip archiver can repair them, sometimes. Depending on what data is in those files and the compression, some could try to view them with textviewer, hexeditor or some other tool.
Its an iso. and I use a program called "Iceoews" instead of winzip, because winzip is not freeware and I dont have a credit card. Iceoews has a repair function but when I click on the .zip, the option is greyed out and I cant click on it. (note: its a file off of a newsgroup and when I applied the PAR file it said that there was nothing wrong with any of the files but I need to start with the zip, I think to open and recompile them all into the .mds and .iso ) am I screwed?
