I'm new to burning DVDs. The first few avi files I burned using Nero 7 worked but picture quality wasn't great. Noticeable lack of sharpness when compared to playing the same avi file on my PC. Should I be using better software for burning?

Any suggestions which will help will be appreciated.

While playing the DVD, did you notice the problem on the PC or the standalone player?

If the problem is the same on both, have Nero output to a folder on the PC instead of burning the disk.

Play the files in the folder with your media playe and see if the problem is in the converted files.

If the problem shows up on the PC when playing back the files from the folder, then perhaps another converter should be tested.

    It doesn't sound like a burner/burning/media problem.

The problem is playback on the DVD player. I'm now trying writing to a file at high quality. I'll compare the two when the file is written.
