I am converting home made movies to DVD & VCD. Obviously the DVD copies are pretty good (video & Audio) - no problems there. I have issues with VCD, the Video quality is really poor. I used Sony Vegas4 to create VCD directly (its pretty quick), the video is poor. On one of my creations I tried to slow the speed down to try and improve the qulity of the burn, and guess what No Audio. The video I though improved slightly. How can I improve my VCD qulity, and avoid losing Audio? Some friends tell me that they have seen VCD's have just as good qulity as a DVD. I even tried using the Guid on this site, and actually that made the video quality even worse, then going direct from Vegas. The guide here shows how to use DVD2AVI and TMPGEnc, it worked fine but very poor output. Perhaps in all this there may be settings that I am not using correctly, so help would be appreciated. I need to create VCD for Pal system from my home made movies.
VCD Quality is Just Plain Low Quality and there is nothing you can do about it... VCD"s use a Resolution that is less that 25% the resolution of a standard DVD and a Bitrate that is even Less than that so you aren"t going to get "DVD" quality VCD"s... VCD"s only really Look good if they are Made from a High quality source and are watched on a Small TV set.... "Tmpgenc" is Known as being one of the best Mpeg-1/VCD encoders there is so if you didn"t like it"s Quality and you used a DVD Source then you aren"t going to like any VCD"s... You can even Try Makeing VCD"s But useing Mpeg-2 instead and use a Higher Bitrate and Put them on to DVD Instead of CD-R.... Cheers
