portable extenal hdd

    i have segate 320 gb hdd it is in 320 gb primary partition i want to make partition of 160 gb thanks in advance

    Is it new? If it is, you can just make two partitions using disk management. If it already has data on it that you want to keep there (i.e. you can't back it up to another drive temporarily) then grab Acronis Partition Manager and have the existing partition resized, and then add the second partition in.

    it is new. my uncle said that sometimes drivers may be erased because my hdd is portable exeternal
    sorry if i said wrong

    No drivers to worry about. Just go into disk management and assign a drive letter.

    I am saying that it is already formatted ton 360 gb in primary partition

    go to disk management delete the partition
    make a new partition size 160gigs & quick format
    make a new partition of whats left prolly 140 gigs & quick format
    windows automatically assigns drive letters to formatted harddrives
