Gan anyone tell me if there is a potable hard drive compatible with the Llnux operating system ,Thanks
Practically anything USB powered you can assume will be OK. I have used an NTFS formatted one previously, just make sure that you are cleanly unmounting it so as not to corrupt unwritten data (the NTFS one refused to mount until the owner took it back to a Windows machine and cleanly mounted and unmounted it. I don't blame the ntfs-3g guys for not wanting to be responsible for crap caused by sloppy Windows use). Not sure how it would handle firewire and wouldn't expect much, but I imagine external SATA should be OK too, just not sure how it would go with hot plugging. Fire up a live CD and find out
i agree mick. i have plugged phones in via usb cable and they act as external drives without any hassle. never had an ntfs drive, had a fat32 hdd from an old laptop as an external drive until the hdd completely crapped out and wouldn't mount anywhere (except the bin).
