if they want you, they'll get you. the net leaves a trail to every pc. you'd need to learn some major hacking skills to effectively cover your tracks, and that's about all the help i can give you.

what you should do is simple enough: don't do anything on your school connection that you don't mind being caught for doing.

you want to fileshare or view gay mature bestiality fetish porn or whatever, do it on your home connection. there, the only place you have to deal with is your ISP, and if you have a good one they'll try to protect you a bit over turn you in.

the isp logs your activity...that's part of the services rendered. they know what you do and when you do it online. however, that doesn't mean they're going to turn over a customer first chance they get. if they notice you're up to something that's a no-no, they usually send you a few warning letters first.

most schools aren't okay with you downloading [bold]at all[/bold]. too many moronic children download virii and put the network at risk, plus downloading illegal content opens the school up for a law suit. i know at my old high school, if you were caught downloading, you lost your computer privileges for something like 3 months.

what's the problem with downloading at home or at an unsecured hotspot, like a cyber cafe? in the former you have the security of the service you pay for, the latter the closest thing to anonymity you will get. why do you see the need to risk yourself at school?

in my dorm, they don't really monitor your activites...they just shut off all p2p ports. unless you know a great deal about proxying, you can't get around it. considering the massive firewall they've stuck me behind, i don't get to do any p2p downloading >.<

First of all, i doubt there surveying who's connected to there WIFI and watching what what sites your going on.
But in the rare case where they are,the only trail you leave is your ip address.

Even If they got your Ip they wouldn't be able to find out where you are and what your name is...But it's better if they don't have it.

I suggest you download a program like "Hide ip",which simply hides your ip address and gives a false one.

call it false all you want, but if they have a guy with half the knowledge our own the_fiend has working even part time, anyone on the using the network can be caught quite easily.

this isn't as much about getting around the school system as it is about being smart. you're a lot better off staying away from filesharing on a school network than you are trying to pull it off.

well, that was in Highschool though. I guess since high schools have more limited students compared to a university, then they are more tighter. And I think once you live in a dorm, it really doesn't matter what site you go too. Or what kind of files u dl. As long as you pay your bill, they won't give a @#!$ out of you.

 

what site you go to? no. but as for downloading, universities across the US have been shutting that down. once they block the ports used by p2p applications and bittorrent through the network firewall, you're screwed unless you know an ungodly amount about ...well, hacking.
