ive backed up 2 DVDs so far, monsters inc and the matrix reloaded and neither will play in power dvd xp.

the most recent (matrix) comes up with the following message.

    Error Code: 89020003

the DVD disc might have been damaged so as to inhibit playback operation.

please clean the surface of the disc if possible. if it has been scratches, it might not be readable.

    -----------

it is a brand new dvd with no scratches. its plays in my stand alone pioneer DVD player, and it also plays in windows media player.

does anyone know of any settings i may have to tweak in power dvd to get it to play. i burnt both with nero 6 following the instructions on http://users.auth.gr/~ichatzim/nero.htm

    thanks

There is a new updated PowerDVD XP 5 out now , haven't tried it myself but it may have certain issues resolved.

I can see your point in being curious but at least you dont have a problem as you are able to play in WMP (and of course stand alone DVD player which is the most important)

I have the same issue with a home grown DVD burned by Nero 6.o It works in all standalone players and Nero DVD player and Real Player, Something wrong with Power DVD software.

Try using 'Nero Showtime', available from their website. Personally, always found Power DVD unreliable, goes friggin' mental for no apparent reason (maybe it's just me, lol)

i got the latest version of power dvd (5) and now they all work fine. although i am having trouble viewing them on the tv when the signal is sent from the computer, most probable anti piracy software to stop you tapping them onto VHS.
