how many of u have ur systems protected from power and lightning surges, not many,if ur cable box takes a strike from lightning[rare] but with global warning who knows.anything connected to coax cable and interconnected would fry,dvd/vcr/home cinema/tv and radio.
most anti surge devices will have co ax in and out but if it has an aerial feed into say ntl box for ur radio usually gets overlooked so fried system. with all the money spent on systems is urs protected.
one last thing when we plug into mains power quality is dirty as it gives u interference on tv picture.
