    Hi,
    I have a very strange problem with DirectVobSub. When I installed it, it ran flawlessly with PowerDVD 7, but had problems with Media Player. Files would play in Power DVD, but not in Media Player. I decided to delete DirectVobSub, as I started to use ffdshow-20060127 which includes subtitles.. When I uninstalled DiectVobSub, Media Player started to work with everything, whilst PowerDVD 7 only worked with "normal" videos. (For example videos from a cell-phone). When trying to play DivX in PowerDVD 7, the program freezes, system performance use reaches 100%, and nothing happens. I can still press stop, and everything goes back to normal. I do not wish to use DirectVobSub, because it messes my Webcam up, and also Media Player and other players. So, what could I do to make PowerDVD work without DirectVobSub?
    I have tried the following:
    * Uninstall PowerDVD/reboot/install in same folder/different folder
    * Clean registery
    * Uninstall DirectVobSub in different patterns (first Power DVD, than Vob sub/vice versa)

    This ALSO happend on my old computer, as I noticed when I didn't load DirectVobsub, PowerDVD refused to play certain files. When loaded, every file played in PowerDVD, but not in Media Player. I don't want to use DirectVobSub, as it loads when I activate my webcam, and gives me a bluescreen after a while. Also, I don't like the thought of having to run a codec to be able to use a program, when others work fine without it.
    I have never heard of this problem before.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

    But how come every other avi player plays all my videos? I have a bunch of coded vids that plays in other programs.. I use ffdshow. Why just powerDVD? And it stops working also when I disable DirectVobSub when it is still installed. Seems like it needs the vobsub's of some reason.

    I guess you found out a program that conflicts with PowerDVD! So who knows why it won't work even after uninstalling that program. I hope you find the cause and fix it. good luck.

    Yeah, so do I. Thw wierd thing is that PowerDVD runs good when vobsub is not installed, but it seems as soon as you get it on your system, you mess PowerDVD up for good, unless you re-install everything. This is the case on every computer running these two programs it seems, because on my other two, the exact same thing happened. Wonder why no one else have come across this "bug". Seems like as soon as DirectVobSub is installed, PowerDVD gets dependant on it. Do you know any way to configure PowerDVD? Either to make vobsub only load when PowerDVD loads, or to delete the codecs PowerDVD is looking for?

    Ok, so this is extremely wierd! I just uninstalled all my codecs (the ffdshow pack), and suprisingly, all my players (now including powerdvd), plays my videos. Even the ones with AC3 sound. After reboot they still run the files. How can that be???

    Ha, i found the problem. It wasn't VobSub at all, it was ffdshow. Actually, vobsub was needed for ffdshow to run with PowerDVD. PowerDVD doensn't work with ffdshow otherwise. Now without it, it runs perfect. Also, somehow, i can still play AC3 encoded videos, etc. http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=915147
