for some reason I can capture with sonic my dvd but it never supports the file format. the red burn button never allows itself to highlight which leaves me empty handed. once i changed the quality aspect it does allow me to start burning but always ends up in errors. anyone else have similiar problems or solutions
I also have SonicMyDvd.When you start to "burn" the button is grayed out. That is because you are trying to burn more info than the disc can hold. You can only burn 4.3gigabytes on a disc. Even though it is a 4.7g disc, you can only burn 4.3. When you retrieve your file to burn, on the lower left of the screen it will tell if it is vcd or dvd and it it will tell you how much will on the disc.
thank you for taking the time to respond to my thread. I am aware of the 4.3 on a dvdr but I have just been trying to record some of my fav shows off tv and it only takes up about 1.3 so I am still trying to work that one out.
My mpeg was set at the best possible resoluntion of mpg you could get and when i downgraded it everything appeared. why have the best feature if it wont work. what did i do wrong
I pesonally do not have the software you are using so this is mostly untested theory but here goes! I'm assuming the my dvd is doing the conversion from the proprietary TiVo format to dvd compliant mpg?? I don't know what format it considers to be best quality but the use of different matrixes will greatly effect the size of the file. I know to make this format(tivo) compliant it requires a huge amount of decompression, ask anyone who has done some divx conversion quite similar you may try vso's divx to dvd to see if you get better results you will also get a lot more support from members here as it's a fave of this forum! it will convert the files to dvd files then you can use your favorite means to compress as needed! I 'dont think you did anything wrong, it sounds to me that your smart software is just picky and won't allow you to ask for more than it's capable of doing whether for size issue's,format compatability,or any multitude of things that the software author didn't take the time to correct! it's either that or your p.c. is secretly plotting to cause you insanity via stress and assume your identitydrain your bankaccount and take a vacation in the honduras! or am I the only one that thinks like that!
