hi,i'm using nero vision express 3 to convert my avi files to dvd and i never had big problems before but i downloaded some avi files and i can´t convert them, i use the options "make dvd-video" and "add video files" but when i try to open the avi the program freases and it doesn´t respond it only shows the disk space bar. Some of the avi files already have subtitles included, when i check the properties of the files, it says it has a FFDS video compression, but even the ones that don't have subtitles included the video compression is the same. i already tried with TMPGEnc plus 2.5 but the program doesn't recognise the files, shows a error message, it says it doesn't support them i'm out of ideas any help would be very appreciated
It sounds as if it may be a codec issue. Opening your file in GSpot will show you if it is that. If so, download the Kazaa Lite Mega codec pack here or at Edskes. It already contains GSpot but you can choose what you wish to install:http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/codecs_and_filters/index3.cfm Or, if not, I don't know about Nero but in TMPGEnc, make sure DirectShow Multimedia File Reader is raised to 2 by going to main page>options>environmental settings>VFAPI plugin and raise its priority by rght clicking on it.
i checked my files with GSpot and i have the codecs needed i also tried that option you said in TMPGEnc but the result is the same, it gives me an error, "can not open, or unsupported" thanks for the reply anyway have you another idea or maybe another program?
The only other converting program that I hear many good things about is VSO ConvertXtoDVD but it's not free and the trial will leave a watermark on your encoded video and encodes at about 1/2 speed. You could try running the avi through a program like DivFix to see if there are any errors in it and fix them but that's a long shot. Other than that, sorry, I have no clue.
already fix it i got a program called dvdSanta 4.00 and i already converted some of my files perfectly it's a pretty good program, it allows subtitles .srt and .sub, but doesn't offer the possibility to create menus or chapters and it's not free, the trial version leaves a demo version marked on the final dvd, but i managed to get the full version on torrents in the TorrentReactor.net just search dvdSanta 4.00 and download the one it says "retail", about 5 mb if anybody has the same problem i had this is a good way to fix it
