Hi I just purchased a new DVD DL burner and have decrpter and DVD shrink. Lately I have tried to back up Little Man and Step Up and they keep freezing at 1% with both programs movies are brand new no scrates, firmware up to date... I am lost any help would be greatly appreciated.. I have never had a problem like this, usually I can handle it or "figure it out" I am baffled
Do you have Clone 2 & ANY DVD from Slysoft. If not-you can download for 20 day free trial from slysoft Merry Christmas
I am having same trouble backing up "Step Up". I d/l newest ver of anydvd and I never usually have trouble backing any other movies up, I am not a newbie (though I dont know how it all works, I usually get it to work)I thought newest anyDVD version would solve it but no luck
Does your burner work on other movies? Are you using DVD Decrypter w/ ANY DVD running to send to HD? When does it freeze--ripping or burning?
first i used anydvd w/recode as usual, but after it scanned the disc it froze about a minute into importing. So I tried drcryptor and it put it in my computer but its an iso now and 7+ gig. Recode usually shrinks it to the right size to fit on a disc. I normally just use anydvd w/recode then I ifoedit so it starts at title menu and i remove trailers, warnings, etc then I use recode again to put on disc
That's nice... With DVD Decrypter under Mode you can use FILE or ISO. Are you happy with compression on DVD 5 ? If not--do you have a dual layer burner? (DVD 9)
Compression is not a problem for me at all. Usually i use recode and it gets compressed enough to fit on 1 disk. I dont really notice much difference. My eyesight sucks to begin with and aside from bluetooth, movie discs quality arent that great to begin with either. But yeah, one disk, one layer, fine by me. I just never had to shrink it manually before. I read others had no problem w.this movie using w/recode 2, maybe i should d/l the update, or is it an upgrade where they want mo money again?
@rfh1234 why don't you use IFO Edit before Recode2? That is allot of steps to do a movie. More simple step would be the following. Use DVD Decrypter in FILE mode (This gives you the VIDEO_TS/AUDIO_TS folders). Going to File mode is easy Click Mode then File. Use AnyDVD with DVD Decrypter if it needs help with the encryption. Once the files are on your HDD use IFOEdit and edit the DVD the way you want. Now load the DVD Files on your HDD into recode2 and transcode the DVD to DVD5 and burn. The more times you transcode the more the quality will downgrade. So running the DVD through Recode2 and then using IFOEdit then running it through recode2 again is doing more harm to the quality of the backup. Another way you could do it is instead of running the DVD through Recode2 a second time just burn the DVD to disc using Nero Burning Rom and choose the DVD-VIDEO option.
if you do not have a dual layered burner you will not be able to backup the new stuff anyway because they are all DL now
@jennyk14 Programs like Recode2/DVD Shrink/1 Click Copy Pro/DVD Rebuilder etc.etc.) Transcode/Encodes the DVD to fit on a single layer disc. DL DVDs(DVD9) have been out forever even before we had Double Layer burners and media. So you do not have to have a DL burner and DL media to burn a DVD. You just need a single layer DVD5 disc and a program that will Transcode/Encode the DVD so it will fit onto a Single Layer disc (DVD5) On another note did you get the DVDs backed up you where having trouble with?
You do not have to have a Dual-Layer burner to read a Dual-Layer(DVD9) disc. You don't even have to have a burner to read a Dual-Layer disc. You can have a DVD-ROM and still read/rip the image to your hard drive. The only diffrence between a Dual-Layer burner is it can burn Dual-Layer disc. You do not need a Dual-Layer burner to burn a DVD you can use a single layer burner and disc as long as you use a program to transcode/encode the DVD to a single layer disc. All DVD-ROMs/Single Layer Burners/Dual-Layer Burners can read a DVD no matter if it is a Single Layer or Dual-Layer DVD.
you do need a DL burner to read a DL disk. I just had to buy a DL drive because my other drive wouldnt read dl disk
If you have a commercial DVD movie that is Dual-Layer (DVD-9) you do not need a Dual-Layer burner to read or rip the image to your HDD. It could be possible that you are having a media compatibility issue if this is a Backup Dual-Layer disc you are trying to read.
so how do you expect it to read the commercial DVD that is DL if you do not have a DL drive. My regular drive wouldnt even read the DL disk with decrypter or shrink until I got my Dl drive
no it works fine and still does...can someone back me here and tell these guys that single layer drives cant read DL disks using decrypter or shrink
You will not get anyone to back you up because DVD-ROM/Single Layer DVD burners/Dual layer Burners can read Dual Layer commercial media. The only difference between a Dual-Layer burner and the others is it can BURN Dual-Layer Disc. If you do get someone to back you up then you should not listen to them because I say again!!!!!! YOU DO NOT NEED TO HAVE A Dual-Layer DRIVE TO READ COMMERCIAL MEDIA. There has to be something wrong with the drive itself or how you have installed it. Because a Single Layer DVD burner will play commercial media (DVD5 or DVD9). You could be having encryption problems when trying to run a newer DVD through DVD Decrypter or DVD Shrink. These programs have not been updated in a while and can have problems with newer copy protection on the newer DVDs. Think about it. If your old DVD Burner could only read a single layer disc then why would you need DVD Shrink to transcode the DVD to fit on a single layer disc? If it is a single layer disc all you would have to do is use DVD Decrypter MODE/ISO/READ to rip the DVD to an ISO then MODE/ISO/WRITE to burn the disc to a single layer disc.
