    I have a 512 mb RAM and 3GHz processor.
When i try to convert an avi to dvd my system shuts down.
I tried several programs like ROXIO,TMPEG.
DOes it have anything to do with the paging file?
I have 1 GB free in my C DRive and more in other drives or the output.

It could be that you don't have enough space on your output drive. A minimum of 5G is needed and preferably, more.

Try running Toast http://www.majorgeeks.com/Toast_d867.html to test if your PC shut down.If it doesn't then it means there is some thing wrong with your windows OS.I would upgrade all firmware, drivers shut down services if you don't need them, remove pagefile if you have over 1GB of RAM.Whats the speed of your power supply?
No it doesn't have to do with you pagefile..Or else if would warn you that the pagefile has an error.Try CCE.Make sure not to run Toast more then 20-30 sec.
