I've been using VirtualDub for a while to join movie parts, encode etc. But today i come across a problem, i have downloaded a two part DVD, so, i thought to myself,"i'll join them using VD, like i always do" so i click on the first part of the movie to open it, but an error message pops up saying " Couldn't locate decompresser for format 'XVID' (unknown) VirtualDub requires a video for windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress the video. Directshow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable" How do i solve this problem, i've never had it before, could it be the version of dub? or what? Please help me conquer this problem. Thanks in advance. -BeZaX
You don't have a DVD, you have an XviD avi and you need to install XviD. I find it hard to believe though that if you have been downloading avi's that you have never come across one that is compressed with XviD before.
