Hi everyone , i'm new here , i've just bought a pioneer 106d and tried to back up some of my dvd , i tried red dragon , ripped with smart ripper or shrink on dvd-r (lg or thnk-xtra brands) on dvd+rw (tdk) but they won't play on my GRUNDIG GDV 120 player .
On my pc sometimes power dvd says there are corrupted files but media player plays well.
    Where do i go wrong?
    thanks for help

    chimaira0,

    1. Standalone players don't as a rule play RW media. Burn your backup on +R or -R media, what ever your standalone player's manual says is compatable.

    2. Always use a good grade media, an "el Cheapo" will cause you errors no end -

    3. You haven't told us what you have used to burn your VIDEO_TS folder with -

    Nero ??
    CloneDVD ??
    RecordNow Max ??

Did you make sure that ALL of your files are moved over to the burner (I think so because it worked in WMP)-

Maybe one suggestion will help, if not, get back to us there's someone here most all the time -

    Happy Holidays,
    "P"

standalones are tricky with media type. some will play -r and +rw or any funky combination you can think of. Media is a big component. Use quality media. Usually you can get riteks for just over $1 each.
    Check compatiblity at:

The way you set up you burning program can have a huge difference. What program did you use. If you use nero or recordnow, check out the settings from these sites:
    http://www.chrismccann.co.uk/user_guides.htm
    http://www.dvdshrink.info/
If you something else, you might never get a successful burn.

thanks , finally i made it!!!
I use nero for burning , and after trying with a DVD+R (stupid web pages telling me it should be -r!!!!)i suceeded!
It was a tdk dvd+r , used smart ripper and dvd2one , burned with nero 6.0.
If anyone has the same standalone player (GRUNDIG GDV120) ,this worked for me .
Now i'm trying different DVD+R and see which are compatible. I'm going to try with an Itenso DVD+R.
    Thanks for all
