Hello! I tried to play a hdtv recorded .avi file on my dvd player named Philips DVP 3010.

The problem i experienced was that the movie was "hacking" in the sense that it did not play all frames... it just didn't run "smooth"...

I had the same problem on the computer when i played the file in BSPlayer and WIN, but in Nero showtime and VLC player it ran smoothely...

My question is, is it because of the DVD-player doesn't have the right codecs or is it because i played it on a 4:3 TV (not hdtv compatible).

The .avi file is of Xvid codec.

    Help? comments?

I think its because the file is probably at a high resolution and most direct show based media players lag abit when playin these files, (especially XviD) Same thing goes for your dvd player,im surpirsed it can play it at all.
Also note, this is not a probably not a codec issue and certainy not a acpect ratio issue.

Sounds right... If I was to get a more pricy DVD player, would it manage to play these high-res files without problems then?
