I have just 1 cda song sitting on a CD-R which I would like to send to a chum as an e-mail. The only problem is that, for some reason, I can't just copy this song to my hard drive.

I have Nero Ultra and even Roxio easy CD.

Could someone please help my out. This is driving me nuts and probably is soooo easy to do.

cda is just a pointer - you need to convert to a WAV file - it will be approx 30-50Mb - not ideal for sending as an email. Have fun.

You need a Compact Disk Digital Audio extractor
    http://www.afterdawn.com/software/audio_software/cd-da_extractors/
    I recommend CDex v1.51
It will record WAV to harddisk, like colw says, using approx 10MB/minute (Redbook CD-DA standard).
You can then compress this to approx 1MB/minute using various lossy MP3 codecs.
    I recommend LAME.

I find that Streambox Ripper works great for converting CDA to your computer.
