Hi all, it's been awhile since I posted on AW mostly cause I haven't been buying DVD's to make backups for but that's changed.

I just tried to burn a music concert that had been pre-authored into the .vob,.buf,.ifo files use the "Guide for Burning Pre-Authored DVD Video Using Nero". I'm using Nero 6.6.1.15e which was causing Memory Dumps until I figured out I still had pieces of McAfee's Internet Security installed. Now I'm using Norton Internet Security 2008 which I like more than the McAfee product. But none of that has to do with my issue.

Anyway I was following the easy to use Guide, copied all of the files into a Video_TS folder and had everything else set to mirror the settings in the guide. I pushed the Burn Compilation Button and after about 10 seconds I received an error message that said something about "File Allocation for DVD's was incorrect". I went ahead with the burn and have ended up with a nice Ritek coaster!

I saved and printed the 4 page error report and the After Dawn Guide is very easy to follow so I have no idea what went wrong. The only thing that I see that could possibly be wrong is at the very end and is a line about Existing drivers in Registry Keys which says:
    Existing drivers:

    Registry Keys:
    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\WinLogon\AllocateCDROMs : 0 (Security Option)

    I have a CD/DVD Rom plus a Sony DRU-710A burner.

Does anybody have any idea what the problem might be? It's been a very long time since I did any back-up burning but I don't remember ever having that kind of problem. Could the problem be in the pre-authored DVD files I was working with?

    Thanks for your help, Mike

Did you try using FixVts to repair any structural errors? Depending on the method used for ripping/authoring, some DVD compilations do not keep the proper structure. For me it happened to get that error a few times while trying to burn some DVDs after ripping with DVD Decrypter( I think it might have been in "File Mode" movie only).

What are the names of all the files that you have in the Video_Ts folder?

same as cyp try another ripper, but if not copy prtoected as i quick scanned your thread and didnt see any ripping part you could do copy to copy 1:1 like cyp says dvd decrypter iso read/iso write

if it needs shrinking try dvd shrink instead a free app

    ----------------

I'm using Nero 6.6.1.15e which is their latest release for v6

i had an old v6.6.1.18 known to be good

    Cyprus & Rotary,

I just downloaded it and will take awhile to figure out how to use it.

To clarify an issue, once the Torrent files (there have been several) and each of them created their own VIDEO_TS folder. I used a Nero burning Guide which said to open Nero, create a DVD-Video and drag the files within the Torrent VIDEO_TS folder to a red VIDEO_TS folder that Nero was showing, which the Guide said would be there and it would be Red. I followed it to the letter but haven't been able to burn any in Nero 6.6.1.16e.

I always get the same error message, "DVD-Video files reallocation failed. The resulting DVD-Video might be unplayable, do you want to continue?" Having downloaded 4 Torrents that were VIDEO_TS folders, I tried each one. There were 2 movies and 2 music concerts, but all 4 gave the same error message and when I disregarded the error I got some really nice coasters for my trouble. That's when I started posting on After Dawn for help.

The Torrent VIDEO_TS folders contained 1.) Fantastic 4 movie, 2.) Chronicles of Narnia 2 movie, 3.) Madonna Confessions Tour, and 4.) Madonna Blonde Tour. No luck burning any of the 4 directly into Nero. I've also tried using Decrypter and Shink thinking maybe they could/would help in some way but neither one of them helped either.

I will try the FixVTS program on one of them now.

EDIT: Regarding listing the files in the VIDEO_TS folders, I just found the directions for uploading to ImageShack to include an image in my post, editing now so that I can include files from VIDEO_TS folders in next post.

Thanks guys for your help, it's much appreciated, tallguy53/Mike.

    ok try this, its easy...

open that video ts folder in dvd shrink a free app

    see if it loads ok?

next if it loads hit BACKUP and make an ISO image named 1) ---> FAN4.iso

    burn with imgburn, 4x speed...

    both these apps are free...

    ==================

i think in your nero project you may be dropping a video-ts folder inside a video ts folder, not good. or dropping files in audio-ts, or not correct amount of files in the right folder...

Rotary, hold on just a minute. I had all of the video files loaded into a screen shot on AD when suddenly I went off line from AD. No idea why, it's never happened before. Let me get those video files posted for you again, then give me your advice after you see them.

    Cyprusrom & Rotary,

I have it figured out how to post the video files that were in the torrents after I downloaded them. That's what I've been doing for the last hour, then got logged out of AfterDawn! The following video files each appeared in the appropriate download in it's own VIDEO_TS folder after the torrent had completed downloading.

Here's the video files from the Madonna Blonde tour torrent:

Here's the video files from the Fantastic 4 movie torrent:

This is the error message from Nero I got each time I followed the burning guide step by step and copied the files from the VIDEO_TS torrent folder over to the RED VIDEO_TS Nero folder:

Sorry it's taken me so long but like I said I got bumped off from After Dawn for some reason.

Rotary now I'll try your suggestion about using Shrink and report my findings.

ADDED PARAGRAPH: After reading further down to the end of this posting, are either one of you able to say with any degree of certainty if the files are hosed or not? I'd love to be able to salvage the time spent downloading them but if not then I'd just as soon stop here and not waste more time.

Thanks very sincerely to both of you for all of your help, Tallguy53/Mike

No DVD Shrink, the latest version, did not open the VIDEO_TS folder created when the torrent was finished downloading. The error message reads:

DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue.
    Invalid DVD navigation structure.
OK Button to close the window.

    Cyprus & Rotary,

EDIT: Regarding FixVTS I just searched for and read the Guide to using FixVTS. I'm reasonably sure that I did what the Guide said even though I did it before reading the guide. I remember the 2 settings is why I say that, and as I said before I let it run through the entire folder.

END EDIT: So I believe that I had it clean all of the .VOB files which are 2 -.BUP files, 2 -.IFO files and 1 -.VOB file in the FixVTSBackup folder.

Am I getting anywhere with this guys or are these torrent downloads hosed? If they are then I'd rather not spend anymore time on them. If they can be salvaged then that would be great but you'll have to tell me because frankly I don't know what to do or where to go from here.

I sincerely thank you for your help, tallguy53/Mike.

After you processed the files with FixVts(make sure you use the processed files and not the ones that you downloaded), try to open the new Video_Ts folder with DVD Shrink. If it doesn't work, you can try and process it with VobBlanker.

Here is a guide( skip the decrypting part, go directly to VobBlanker).

    http://my.afterdawn.com/alkohol/blog_entry.cfm/1273

Just load the Video_TS.IFO, and hit "process". If the new , processed compilation still doesn't work, I'm really running out of options...

try what cyp says use that great guide!

another option is to use main movie only files/VOBS and make new ifo files (main movie only!!!) no menus or extras, useing ifoedit, if you want to do this post back here after that guide!
    ---------

do the vobs play ok when clicked these are the video parts
