I bought a hard drive from my friend, which he had formatted and I want to install Windows XP Home Edition on it. I disconnected my current hard drive which I has all of my files and everything on it and connected the new hard drive. I put in the Windows XP cd into my cd drive and when I turn on my computer, I push the F11 button to select where I want to boot from. I select the drive where my disc is and then it'll say Press Any Button to Boot from CD so I push "r" Most of the time, my computer will restart or the screen will stay black with the cursor blinking in the upper-left hand corner and one time it said "Line 2569 of the INF file \i386\txtsetup.sif is invalid" Is there a different way to install Windows XP or is there something I'm doing wrong? Any help is greatly appreciated.

change your boot sequence in your bios so that it automatically boots from cd

My guess is, that formatted drive you have does not have an active partition set or no partition has been created. But it's a guess as I've had no problem booting from cd since the days of Win95
