I converted an AVI format file with extra captions to a DVD format with the trial version of ConvertXtoDVD. The trial version just added a watermark to the video and I was OK with that. When I played the DVD video file on my computer, everything was fine. When I burned that to a DVD and played it, every few frames the video and audio seemed to "jolt". It stopped for a bit of a second and then continued wit the next couple of frames. Does anyone know what could be the problem?

Once again, playing something off your HD on your computer has nothing to do with how a burned disc will work in your player.

Not all media and/or burners are identical... one size does not fit all. The problem you describe is usually attributed to either cheap media or a bad media to burner match. Your player is struggling when reading your burn. Take a look at the burned surface of your burn, if you see lots of banding it means your burner was struggling a bit during the process. You can try burning at a slower speed. This sometimes helps if the media you have is not a good match for your burner or you can try another brand. As folks have noted buying blanks that are 'Made in Japan', rather than going by brand names is a good idea. If from Taiwan buy only Verbatim (always a sound choice).

What burner do you have and what media are you using?
