hi. to be exact, problem is with dvd architect 3.0b (build 123) version. I've made my dvd authoring (project with few submenus etc. video and photo stuff) and prepare part was succesfull. after starting burning dvd, there were problems. first time I got over 3gb of 3.7gb project burned and then program announced this: The command failed due to a IOCTL error. Your interface or drive may be configured incorrectly. ----------------------------- 'SFMMCX'-(17) 'USB/1394 Devices'-(4) -'HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-5163D A102'-(0) Module sfmmcx.cpp Line 1795 Status: ff000000 Command: 2a 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 20 00 Sense: 05 24 00 Info: 00 00 00 00 Specific: c0 00 02 Extra: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 --------------------------------- then I thought that problem was with my dvd drive. I updated firmware version to newer one, A105 (old version was A102). dvd drive model is LG GSA-5163D. ok. after this burning with Nero was ok (earlier it wasn't), but... I had still same problems with dvd architect, new burning attempt stopped after few megabytes... and I got exactly same error message. anyone with ideas what to do next? my project is done with this software and I think it's quite difficult to transfer it to any other software. and I've already 2 'dead' MAXELL dvd-r discs, I don't want to burn more with same 'null' results.
ok. I found this: http://forums.creativecow.net/cgi-bin/new_read_post.cgi?forumid=24&postid=855096 it seems the problem is with Sony software updates and possibly my drive is not compatible with Architect software. solution is to burn prepared audio/video folders with some other software, because I don't need Architect for this part. can someone recommend any other software for doing this? NERO? I've 6.0.16 express version of it, atleast burning normal dvd-r's works fine with it (NOW! after firmware update )... (?)
Does DVD Architect output a DVD Folder (VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS)? If so, you can load those into DVD Shrink. You will not have to do any type of compressing, so click backup and set your target to ISO file. Pick a nice detination that is easy to find. Then use DVD Decrypter to burn the ISO. I am sure Nero Express can do this as well, but every time you see "express" in a software and you use it, you are asking for trouble. DVD Decrypter is in my opinion a better software to use for Burning DVDs than Nero Burning Rom (this is the non-express version). Also, both Decrypter and Shrink are free!!! To burn with decrypter, open it up, then press "ALT" "M" "S" "W" on your keyboard (you can also find it by navigating to Mode=>ISO=>Write W). This will take you to its ISO Write mode. Load your ISO file. Then set your speed to 4x. After that, click the big "Write" button and leave your computer. After about 12 to 14 minutes, come back and your DVD will be finished. Edit: You can test your movie by loading video_ts.ifo into IFOEdit and pressing DVD play. If it works with no errors (ignore an invalid label error if you get one. You can add your label in DVD Shirnk), then your DVD will play on a DVD player.
----------- Does DVD Architect output a DVD Folder (VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS)?- ----------- yes. I burned DVD architect's video_ts folder with nero and dvd worked ok. but I'll check programs you mentioned, maybe they're better choice in a long run than nero express. thanks for help!
