    Hello
I am new to this so I hope I am posting in the correct forum. I have just purchased a TOSHIBA SD-R5112 DVD-R/-RW Drive DVD Re-Writer. It will play DVDs perfectly. I have tried to copy movies that I have on my computer, without success. My system is Windows XP and I am using a Windows Media Player. The windows Media Player keeps asking me to insert a blank CD, when there is already a blank DVD-RW in the D Drive. Do I need to be using a differant media player or do I need to purchase some software? Or are my settings wrong somewhere? Please answers in plain English?
I am getting very frustrated as I am a novice and cannot think of what else to do.
    Thank you

This should be in the DVD Section...

What software are you using to 'Copy' the DVD's.

You cant use Windows Media Player to Copy DVD's, that will only play, sometimes....

What you will need to DVDSHRINK and NERO. You can download both from here, DVDShrink is Freeware (Free) and Nero you can download a 30 Day Trial, or Purchase it. Another way to burn without Nero is to download DVD DECRYPTER.

A guide for this can be found in the Guide section on aD (up the top of the page on the left).

    Regards

The native burning thingy in windows, to my knowledge, supports only CDs. For DVD burning, you'll need soemthing more. What kind of DVD are you looking to make (DataDVD, DVDVideo, etc)?
