ok so i got a brand new Ipod Video 30 gb, and on the specs it says that it has about 12 hours of music life and 3 hours of video life. Now i know depending on the conditions and how u use it the time can vary, but not this much. The music lasts about 3 hours of use at the most and i'd be lucky to get more than 30 mins out of my battery life while watching videos. Now a few things I tried everything to extend the battery life including turning off the eq, backlight, making sure its charged fully (in the charger about 5-6 hours while i was at work), minial song changing, and when i watch videos i keep the volume at about half bar. I knew video would take up alot of battery but not this much, im pretty mad cuz i lost the reciept and i doubt i can exchange it in hopes of getting a better battery. Is this normal? Or should i return it, or maybe get the 60 gb, is the batery life between them a significant difference? and thigns about the videos, im watching episodes of family guy on it and they are about 24 mins each, and 60 mb in size. any help would be appreciated, thanks
Hi, don't worry about returning it because this is normal for the new Ipod video. I have both the 30 and 60 Ipod video and I'm lucky to watch a full 2 hour movie before the battery is drained. Music on the Ipod gives me about 12-14 hrs of play but movies drain the life out of it.
hey thanks alot, one more question, is there a significant difference between the 60 gb and 30 gb ipods? ive been considerin buyin the 60 one , thanks alot
The 30GB has 14 hours music, 2 hours Video the 60GB has 20 hours music, 3 hours Video Elusiv your iPod gets the power that apple says but mine and mrmcrice get about 3-4 hours. I'm going to the apple store and calling them to see why I get this much less battery. If this is regular I'm going to trade my Video with the Nano
mrmcrice- sounds like a duff battery, I would demand a replacement battery iPod/battery if I were you. That is not right. Batterys and crap headphones are the only things that let the iPod series down. They should carry the option of removeable rechargeable batterys. So if your one fails, you can just replace it yourself without having to send it back.
