MY Xbox has been working fine for several months now, been storing games on the hdd, hdd drive locked, etc. But today, when I turned the console, I get the "Evo X" background with the following options: MS Dashboard (Which does nothing for some reason) Reboot Power Off Settings Backup I havn't done anything at all to the system, no changes or anything just played games. I can still play games on the system as long as its in from the startup logo. Also when I go inot settings, under Hdd it says lock disabled, dunno if this has anything to do with it. Anyone got any ideas? Cause at the moment I can't access any of my stuff on the hard drive. Little more information, I can still save games, etc. onto the hard drive when playing games.
Sounds to me like your evox/menu ini file is corrupt. Do you have it set up so you can ftp to the xbox?
Make sure you have the following in your evox.ini" MSDashBoard = "c:\xboxdash.xbe" Also make sure you have that file/directory Also, to lock/unlock your HDD, add these lines to evox.ini in one of the menus. Item "Lock Harddisk",@210 Item "Unlock Harddisk",@211 The HDD must be locked to boot from normal BIOS. Hope this helps.
i've looked in that *.ini file, and there is no "MSDashBoard =", same for the other things, do I just add the lines to top? Heres my Evox.ini file: [BIOS] Current = 0x2f3d834eec8857eac85df3ecd452ba7f [Network] SetupNetwork = No StaticIP = No Ip = 192.168.0.2 Subnetmask = 255.255.255.0 Defaultgateway = 192.168.0.1 DNS1 = 0.0.0.0 DNS2 = 0.0.0.0 SetupDelay = 0 SkipIfNoLink = No [FTP] Enable = Yes Password = xbox IGR = No [Telnet] Enable = Yes [RDTOOLS] Enable = Yes Name = EvoX IGR = No [Clock] JumpToMsDash = No JumpIfNoLink = Yes Use24 = Yes SwapDate = No SNTP_Server = 0.0.0.0 [Misc] GameRegion = 0 Fahrenheit = No AutoLaunchGames = Yes AutoLaunchDVD = Yes AutoLaunchAudio = Yes UseFDrive = Yes UseGDrive = Yes IGR = No UseItems = Yes ScreenSaver = 5 ShadeLevel = 90 DebugTSR = No
Here is a ini file example from EvolutionX for dummies (no offence, I used it). You should check out the whole thing here: http://evolutionx.info/ Here are a few built in commands to the default.xbe that you see designated by the ID_(command name) or the original @ still work. I formatted and reinstalled yesturday with my slayers disk (which I originaly used) but when it had finished it just came up with the normal xbox menu. I've now download the latest FirF@ckers disk and did the same, but it still only comes up with the original xbox menu. Is there something i'm not doing for this to be happening?
If you have a know good boot disk (cd-r or cd-rw) and you still boot to the xbox dash on the Hd and can't boot to the cd, that points the finger at your mod chip and the D0 connection. This may have become an "open".
Hmmm... I take that back. IF you can FTP and assuming you booted to the boot disk to format the HD your mod chip is still running. You still trying to run the exov dash? Have an evoxdash.xbe and evox/menu ini file?
fixd it now, had to do it all manually. for some reason the two disks weren't setting it up tidy, one of which was the disk i had originally used...
