please could anybody tell me what the difference is wiv + and - blank dvd discs and are they compatable with one an other, thanks.
They use a different formats to put your data on their discs and Im a fraid they are not compatable with each other. If you have a dual layer DVD burner it recognizes both + and - DVD R formats.
thank u for your replie,im using blank dvd+r and its telling me there is not enough space on disc to copy?.
Check your target area if it is bigger than the media you will get that error. (Ex. target area 5.7 gb/ media capacity 4.7 gb)
The target area is the disc you want to burn the files on, i.e your dvd-r or dvd+r disc, these hold 4.7gb of data. If it is a film you are trying to record then most are above this size and will need to be shunk down to size. You can get dvd shrink for this available on this site, easiest and best to use.
here's an example - the first line shows supposed capacity on the inserted blank disc, the second line shows what this particular burn is attempting to fit on that blank disc. A sensible target size is 4300MB which i've got permanently set in DVD Shrink's preferences, this will make sure all future movies never go above 4300MB, thus avoiding the very outer edge of discs and not sacrificing much space
yes thats right just cos it says 4.7 gig doesn't mean you can convert a film to that size. Personally i prefer every little bit of quality i can get so do all my films to 4.35 gig, i can see the thinking in not using the very outer area, but handle the discs properly and this shouldn't be a worry.
